The German soccer players storm towards the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand with verve and scores of goals.

The team of national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg duped the overwhelmed selection of Turkey with 8: 0 (3: 0) in Braunschweig on Friday.

It was the fifth win in the fifth World Cup qualifier for the 2016 Olympic champions.

In front of 2583 spectators, Lea Schüller (7th, 11th and 67th minute), Jule Brand (62nd), Laura Freilang (74th), Sjoeke Nüsken (80th) and Klara Bühl (88th) scored the goals for the hosts . The 1-0 after less than a minute was counted as an own goal by Kezban Tag and not in Schüller's favor. Otherwise the FC Bayern striker would have managed a hat trick right from the start. It was the highest victory in this World Cup qualification after the 7-0 successes against Bulgaria and Israel.

The German team now leads Group H with 15 points ahead of Portugal (13) and increased their goal difference to 28: 1. On Tuesday (7 p.m. in the ZDF livestream) there will be a duel between the two toughest rivals in Faro. Only the first in the group will qualify directly for the final tournament in 2023. The second will play for two more places in the playoffs. Turkey, number 69 in the FIFA world rankings, was not an equal opponent for the DFB selection. At the EM in July 2022 in England, it will have its first international tournament since the bitter World Cup quarter-finals in 2019.

Without the sick playmaker Dzsenifer Marozsan from the US club OL Reign, the versatile Frankfurt Nüsken wore the number ten. Together with Paris professional Sara Däbritz and Lina Magull from Munich, she boosted the aggressive game of her team. The hosts, however, left numerous opportunities.

Klara Bühl and Lena Oberdorf were in the starting line-up for the first time after a long injury break.

In the second half, the experienced defense boss Marina Hegering (all FC Bayern) made her comeback.

Substitute Melanie Leupolz from Chelsea took on the captain's armband and playmaker role after the break.

Klara Bühl first hit the crossbar (57th), before Schüller shone as a preparer in the 4-0 through Hoffenheim's fire.

At the next goal, Whirlwind put on fire for Lea Schüller.

Joker Laura Freilang from Eintracht Frankfurt then scored her ninth goal in the tenth international match.
