Soccer J1 Sanfrecce Hiroshima has announced that former Greek coach Michael Skibbe from Germany will be appointed as the new coach from next season.

Skibbe is 56 years old.

After playing in the German first division league as a player, he became a coach and at the young age of 32 he was the manager of German powerhouse Dortmund.

After that, he became the coach of the German national team and contributed to the second place in the 2002 World Cup Japan-Korea tournament, and then took command at strong clubs such as Leverkusen in the first division of Germany and Galatasaray in Turkey.

He also directed the Greek national team for about three years from 2015.

In Germany, he has also served as a representative director under the age of 20, and has a good reputation for training young people.

At Sanfrecce, he decided to entrust the team to Mr. Skibbe in order to aim for aggressive soccer and to develop young players, and signed a one-year contract for next season.

Shingo Senda, president of Sanfrecce, said, "I am very happy to have someone with a brilliant career looking for a director all over the world. As a local club, it is important to train young people, and I would like to expect their efforts."

"We want to create a great team that will make a name for itself in the history of the club and share the joy with you," Skibbe said.

Skibbe's inaugural press conference is scheduled for January next year.
