Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is open to seeing Arsene Wenger return to the club in another role.

According to the Spanish trainer, talks have already been held with the former manager, who was in charge of Arsenal between 1996 and 2018.

"There has already been contact. I saw him recently when we were both at the premiere of his film and then we spoke. It was incredibly pleasant to see him and talk to him. Hopefully we can bring him closer to the club said Artetta.

"He could make a big contribution to the club. I think he can create a certain climate through the respect and admiration that everyone at the club has for what he's done."

According to Arteta, it must mainly come from Wenger itself.

"Things take time, and I think he should be in control himself. I think I speak for everyone when I say we would be really happy to have him much closer."

Arsenal seem to have found their way up

Arsenal have climbed up in the Premier League after a bad start.

'The Gunners' are now fifth.

Arsenal will not play in Europe.

Under the leadership of Wenger, who retired in 2018, Arsenal belonged to the top of England for years.

In 2004 he led the club to the league title and since then the club from London has never been champion again.

Arteta succeeded Unai Emery in the 2019/2020 season.

Emery, who was fired two years ago, is now employed by Villarreal.
