The dispute between Paris Saint-Germain striker Mauro Icardi and his wife Wanda Nara sparked a lot of controversy, even reaching the world of football, and after several weeks of making headlines the couple decided not to separate.

There was tension between the couple after allegations that Icardi cheated on his wife;

Which prompted her to leave Paris with her children and head to Milan.

However, Icardi followed her to Italy and left his commitments with Saint-Germain and missed training, then withdrew from his team's squad against Leipzig in the Champions League weeks ago.

During those moments, Icardi reportedly said that he would retire from football if he separated from Wanda, and the latter - as his agent - confirmed these reports later.

And it seems as if Icardi used that possibility as an excuse to try to preserve his relationship with Wanda.

These problems and the uncertainty surrounding the Argentine striker's life made the Parisian team think seriously about the player's future in the "Park of the Princes", who is now unlikely to remain a player in the team after the end of his contract (summer 2024).

Icardi's issues and personal life have created more problems for the Parisian team than solutions, which are said to have influenced the club's decision regarding his future.

Despite the Paris side paying €50m for the 28-year-old, Icardi struggled to retain a regular spot in the starting line-up, as evidenced by his seven disappointing goals in 23 games last season.

It is noteworthy that Icardi married "Wanda" after she separated from her husband, former Argentine player Maxi Lopez, who was a colleague of Icardi in Sampdoria and a close friend of the family, and Lopez contributed greatly to the arrival of Icardi to Italy.

When the two players faced each other later in the Italian league match, Lopez refused to shake Icardi's hand, saying that "he stole his wife and children from him."

This issue cost him not to be called up to the Argentina squad in the 2018 World Cup, something that is likely to be repeated again in the Qatar World Cup 2022.
