[Beijing Winter Olympics] From "the most beautiful ice" to "the fastest ice" How does the Capital Gymnasium realize the conversion of ice surface?
[Explanation] As the venue for short-track speed skating and figure skating at the Beijing Winter Olympics, the Capital Gymnasium has undergone many testing activities and now has the conditions for the competition.
On November 24, the reporter visited the Capital Gymnasium.
Yao Jia, director of figure skating competition at the Capital Gymnasium, introduced that the two events have different requirements for competition elements such as ice surface and on-site environment, and "ice rink conversion" has become the top priority of the stadium's work.

In fact, the conversion of our ice surface is mainly between the two events. We may have figure skating training in the morning and short track speed skating competition in the afternoon. This also involves our ice surface conversion.
We are now using a new refrigeration equipment, that is, a carbon dioxide refrigeration equipment, within two hours, to achieve different ice temperatures and different ice softness, to achieve an effect of ice surface conversion.
[Explanation] Yao Jia said that the Capital Gymnasium uses carbon dioxide ice making. This technology is currently the world's most advanced and environmentally friendly ice making technology, which can achieve precise control of the ice surface temperature.

There is an ice-pouring machine room outside of us. By adjusting the temperature of its refrigeration system, the ice surface is changed.
We also have an ice surface monitoring system. The ice surface monitoring system has a total of about 8 probes. After the ice is spread, the probes will be placed under the ice surface, and then different areas of the ice surface can be monitored through the computer. Whether the softness and hardness of this area and its temperature meet the needs of our final competition.
[Explanation] At present, the Capital Gymnasium has successfully completed the Asian Figure Skating Open and the Short Track Speed Skating World Cup.
As a field exercise for the Beijing Winter Olympics, a closed-loop management policy was implemented for epidemic prevention in this test match.
Through a series of competitions, the epidemic prevention work of the Capital Gymnasium has also been tested.

After gaining our experience in organizing games under the normalization of epidemic prevention and control, our stadium team put forward "epidemic prevention first".
All our work must put epidemic prevention first, so our epidemic prevention zone, operation zone, and security zone are organically combined.
Then we won't break the loop or cross the line. In this test activity, we got a good test and inspection.
[Explanation] It is reported that the renovated Capital Gymnasium will not only guarantee the demand for Olympic events, but will also undertake various international and domestic high-level ice events after the game. In addition, it can seamlessly switch to summer events.
