Soccer J1 Vegalta Sendai has announced that Makoto Teguramori will retire after the J2 relegation has been decided.

Vegalta Sendai will be demoted to J2 for the first time in 13 years next season as they lost the match against Shonan Bellmare on the 20th of this month and were confirmed to be 17th or lower with two games left this season.

In response to this, Vegalta has decided to retire as a result of discussions between himself and the club about Teguramori, who took command for the first time in eight seasons with the aim of rebuilding the team this season.

Director Teguramori said, "In the 10th anniversary of the earthquake, we have been making efforts to stay in J1, but we have been demoted to J2 and feel great responsibility and regret. We contribute to the reconstruction of the club in another way. I want to do it. "

According to Vegalta, Teguramori will remain in the club and will be in charge of strengthening and training support in the future.

Also, until the end of this season, head coach Masato Harasaki will temporarily lead the team.
