Emergency meeting of the disciplinary committee on Monday, takeover of the file by the government on Tuesday ... It's time for the accounts the day after the incidents that occurred during the Lyon-Marseille match, the umpteenth episode of overflow in the stands this season in Ligue 1. Invited on Europe Midi, Roxana Maracineanu felt that it was necessary to go further in the sanctions.

Marseille midfielder Dimitri Payet was hit in the head by a full bottle of water thrown from the North turn of the Groupama Stadium in Lyon on Sunday, from the first minutes of the clash between OL and OM counting for the 14th day of Ligue 1. The match was interrupted by referee Ruddy Buquet and the two teams returned to the locker room, while Payet was being treated on the field.

There followed an imbroglio between the leaders of the two clubs, the referee, the Professional Football League (LFP) and the prefecture of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

Invited on Europe Midi Monday, Roxana Maracineanu, Minister Delegate in charge of Sports estimated that decisions must be taken.

"My thoughts are with Dimitri Payet. I believe that enough is too much and the authorities must be put around the table. We must give free rein to the referees," she said.

"I have always maintained that I was in favor of individual sanctions and I mobilized the clubs so that the police could arrest the troublemakers. We will mobilize all justice to go further in the sanctions."

Maracineanu challenges the LFP

On Tuesday the Minister of the Interior will receive his colleagues Jean-Michel Blanquer (Education and Sports) and Roxana Maracineanu (Minister for Sports) at Place Beauvau, as well as representatives of the Professional Football League (LFP) and the French Football Federation (FFF).

After other incidents at the start of the season, several technical meetings took place between the cabinets of the Ministry of the Interior, Justice and Sports.

This resulted in a government letter sent at the end of October to the LFP, to fight against insecurity in the stadiums.

Jean-Michel Blanquer and Roxana Maracineanu at that time said they wanted the "dissemination of an updated circular on penal policy" to the prefects on the subject.

As for the alleged perpetrator of the bottle throwing on a midfielder, aged 32, he was still in police custody on Monday morning for "violence with a weapon by destination in a sports arena", as well as a young man from 17 years old for using smoke.
