Already on Sunday, national team manager Anders Byström hinted that Leo Johansson was relevant for the World Cup competitions in Ruka this weekend.

Later the same day, Leo Johansson was told that he would stay in Gällivare to train with the national team squad.

- It was really great to get that message and feel that you get to show what you can give at a World Cup and see what it is enough for.

It is still where you want to be and fight, says Leo Johansson.

The tactics for Ruka

He won both distance races in Gällivare and has received a good receipt that the training is progressing and that he can go fast.

Now he wants to perform at the same level in the World Cup and see how far it goes.

- It is important to bring these good races in your luggage and feel that you have qualities that make you go fast.

It is a bit difficult with result goals when you have not run so much World Cup, I think, but be able to get good races that I am happy with, he says.

How will you think before the competitions in Ruka?

- I will focus on my own riding and do the best I can in my riding and get what I have in my body.

I do not think I should think so much about what the others do but have a calm and stable ride, he says.

Perform at the top

Before the season, Johansson had set a goal to take a step in his riding and reach higher peaks than last season, something he saw results in already after the first race.

- Previously, it was a little more stable level and I felt that I did not really get everything I had in me.

But I really want to get everything I can present and I seem to have done that this weekend, so it's very fun.

- I would like to do it in more competitions than the first weekend only, and that is the idea, says Johansson.

The dream of the Olympics

The idea of going to an Olympics is there, even though Johansson believes that it has only been a competition weekend and there is still a long way to go.

- The Olympics have been a dream goal throughout the training season.

If it goes really well, you have felt that it is possible to get there.

It would have been a dream to come there.

But there is still a long way to go.

But now the focus is on being able to compete a little more World Cup in the future and focus on performing well.

He has shown that he is a skier with many strengths, some he describes for SVT.

- A distance skier who is good at keeping all the way through the race, at a steady and calm speed, Johansson says about himself.
