Two of the films have been published by Hu Xijin, editor of the Global Times, which is published by the state-run Folkets Dagblad.

In one of the videos, the 35-year-old former double champion is seen walking into a restaurant in Beijing, wearing a mouth guard.

In the second video, she is seen talking without a mask at the restaurant table, according to the post, she is talking to her coach and friends.

TV employee Shen Shiwei has also posted pictures of Peng via Twitter, which is said to have been taken on Friday and published on her WeChat account.

"Could not stop crying"

Peng has not been seen in public since she on November 2 accused former Deputy Prime Minister Zhang Gaoli, who is now in her 70s, of forcing her to have sex.

SVT's Asia correspondent tells more about the accusations in the clip below.

Peng's disappearance has led to great concern in the tennis world, where the head of the women's tennis body WTA, Steve Simon, recently threatened to no longer organize any tournaments in China.

Simon says in a statement that he is happy to see the new films.

"It is unclear if she is free"

"Although it is positive to see her, it is still unclear whether she is free and can make decisions and act on her own, without coercion or external influence," he writes, adding that the video itself is not enough.

He says he remains concerned about her well-being and safety and that the allegations of sexual assault cannot be swept under the rug.

"I have been clear about what needs to happen and our relationship with China is at a crossroads."
