Manchester United began the search for a new coach after the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer today, Sunday, due to a series of poor results, the latest of which was the humiliating loss to Watford in the English Premier League.

Solskjaer coached the team since December 2018, initially as a temporary replacement for Jose Mourinho, but the humiliating loss against Watford 1-4 ended the era of the treble champion in 1999 with Manchester United.

Michael Carrick will take over as temporary coach, and Manchester United have stated that they will look for a temporary coach to lead the team until the end of the season, however there will be mention of a number of big names nominated to lead the team.

And the British news agency "BA Media" sheds light on the possible candidates to take over the leadership of Manchester United, and they are as follows:

1- Zinedine Zidane (currently not working)

He is the most prominent candidate to succeed Solskjaer, and Zidane, 49, has not worked since he left Real Madrid early this year.

The French coach took over the Real Madrid reserve team before he took over the first team in 2016, and led it to crowning the Spanish League title and 3 consecutive Champions League titles.

Zidane left Real in 2018, but returned 10 months later to lead the team to another league title, before leaving again last May.

2- Brendan Rodgers (Leicester City coach)

Rodgers, who is from Northern Ireland, achieved very good results with Leicester City, and managed to lead him to the FA Cup title, and finished fifth in the past two seasons in the Premier League, although the team suffers from a decline in results this season compared to the past two seasons.

Rodgers knows what is required of him to coach the big teams, as he was close to leading Liverpool to the English Premier League title in 2014, before taking over the Scottish Celtic coach.

Rodgers was able to win 7 local titles in his time in Scotland, which is estimated at only two and a half years.

3- Mauricio Pochettino (Paris Saint-Germain coach)

He is greatly admired by Manchester United officials, and the British News Agency has learned that Pochettino was interested in coaching the team at several stages during Solskjaer's tenure as coach.

Pochettino was available in the market after his dismissal from Tottenham, he left him after he led him to the Champions League final, and then joined the Paris Saint-Germain team at the beginning of 2021.

Pochettino has faced hurdles in France, but leaving a team that includes Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe may prove difficult.

4- Eric Ten Hag (Ajax coach)

The Ajax coach is a good coach, but he has the lowest profile among the candidates here.

Ten Hag led the Go Ahead Eagles team, Bayern Munich's second team, and Utrecht before heading to Ajax in 2017, to lead the team to the semi-finals in the 2019 edition of the Champions League, when the team lost to Tottenham, who was coached at the time by Pochettino.

Ten Hag, 51, won two Dutch league titles during his tenure as Ajax coach, as well as two Cup titles and the Johan Cruyff Shield.

Currently, Ajax is 3 points behind the leaders Eindhoven, after drawing in two consecutive matches.

5- Michael Carrick (Manchester United coach)

After Solskjaer's departure, Carrick became acting coach, and Solskjaer began training Manchester United in the same position, in December 2018 after the dismissal of Mourinho, and achieved 10 wins in 11 games before his appointment as technical director in March.

Carrick hopes he can turn things around in the same way to preserve his chances of coaching the team in the first place.

Carrick has been part of United's coaching staff, primarily under Mourinho, since retiring in 2018, after 12 years as a player with the team.
