Dennis Schröder has inflicted a bitter defeat on his former club Los Angeles Lakers with the Boston Celtics in the North American professional basketball league NBA.

The Celtics won 130: 108 on Friday evening (local time).

The best thrower was Boston's Jayson Tatum with 37 points, followed by Marcus Smart with 22 points.

Superstar LeBron James came back for the Lakers after an eight game break on 23 points in 32 minutes.

He was absent because of an abdominal muscle injury.

Schröder was in good spirits despite four ball losses and contributed 21 points as well as six rebounds and assists to the clear victory of the Celtics. In the previous season, the 28-year-old German international had played for the Lakers, but then possibly gambled away during contract negotiations, so that in the end he received a poorly paid contract in Boston. Schröder could also have been traded by the Lakers. Then he might now play for a club where he has no chance of winning the title. And the current Lakers are also far behind their own claims: The 17-time NBA champion also only got eight wins and nine defeats in 17 games. "We don't panic about it," said James, adding, "We definitely have to play better, regardless ofwho plays."

The other Germans in the NBA had no win on Friday.

The Wagner brothers lost with the Orlando Magic after an exciting final phase with the top team Brooklyn Nets 113: 115.

Franz Wagner scored 17 points, and the 20-year-old also scored five assists for the first time in his young NBA career, while brother Moritz contributed two points from the bench.

Isaiah Hartenstein lost with the Los Angeles Clippers in the New Orleans Pelicans 81:94.

Hartenstein scored six of eight throws for eleven points in his almost 20 minutes playing time, and he also scored six rebounds and three blocks.

Without the still injured Maxi Kleber and superstar Luka Doncic, the Dallas Mavericks lost 104: 112 at the Phoenix Suns. It was the eleventh win in a row for the Suns. Meanwhile it became known that the Dallas Mavericks Dirk Nowitzki's famous jersey with the number 41 will no longer be awarded and will be hanging under the roof of the American Airlines Center at the beginning of January. As several media reports unanimously, the ceremony will take place as part of the game on January 5th against the currently best team in the NBA, the Golden State Warriors around superstar Stephen Curry. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is also expected to attend.

Nowitzki is the only player in league history to have played 21 seasons for just one team.

The Würzburger set up countless franchise records: Among other things, he played the most games and scored the most points, rebounds, threesomes, free throws and blocks.

In 2011 Nowitzki also led the Mavericks to their only NBA title and was named the most valuable player in the final series against the Miami Heat.

The 14-time All-Star has scored 31,560 points, the sixth most in the history of the league.

The 43-year-old ended his career in 2019.

Nowitzki's jersey number will be the fourth in Mavericks history to be discontinued.

Before him, this honor was bestowed on Brad Davis (15), Rolando Blackman (22) and Derek Harper (12).
