It is in the distance races that Frida Karlsson has excelled in the World Cup and at the World Cup in recent years.

But last season, the 22-year-old managed to reach the sprint final twice - her first finals so far in the World Cup.

In addition, she took a bronze at the JVM 2018.

But when the Gällivare premiere begins with a sprint tomorrow, Karlsson will be over.

Her coach Per Nilsson explains that it is about it being too much with three competitions in three days, given the intense World Cup period that awaits before Christmas.

- So, I think it's a lot of fun to run a sprint, so it's a bit boring to opt out.

I also want to compete now when it starts, but I have to suck on the caramel a bit and start on Saturday instead, says Karlsson.

"Tried to be faster"

She says that she wants to see herself as an all-round skier - and in the future she hopes to be able to assert herself in sprint as well.

Not least considering how important the sprint is in the tours.

- In my approach, I have tried to be a little faster, a little more stable that will make me even a good sprinter.

So there is no door I want to close completely.

- I think I have an advantage in developing my sprint skiing even in the distance races.

There are a lot of mass starts where speed is an important part of the finishes.
