The Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) have announced the joining of the fastest man in the world for 2021 to the list of elite international athletes participating in the “ADNOC Abu Dhabi” marathon, which will be held on November 26 on the Abu Dhabi Corniche. Kenyan runner Titus Ikeru confirmed his presence in the third edition of the marathon, as he occupies fifth place in the world rankings for men, with a time of 2:02:57 hours, and his list of achievements in his professional sports career includes winning first place in the Milan Marathon 2021, and the Honolulu Marathon 2019 Mexico City Marathon 2018, Seville Marathon 2017.

The council said, in a statement, yesterday: "The upcoming event will witness the participation of eight elite athletes who will compete for first place in the (ADNOC Abu Dhabi 2021) marathon. The elite runners line-up includes some of the best athletes in the world, such as Robin Kiprop Kibego, Abel Kerui, Barnabas Kibetum, Philemon Reno, Eunice Chumba, Bethlehem Moges, Vivian Kiplagat and Alimo Mejerto.

He added: “The approved race village at ADNOC’s headquarters welcomes the participants and the public for three days before the marathon race, from 22 to 25 November. It also provides all family members with the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun and family activities, This is in the context of promoting a healthy and recreational lifestyle for members of the Abu Dhabi community, as the family event hosts runners and participants ranging in age from six to 70 years of all levels of fitness, and aims to promote an active lifestyle and raise the level of physical health in the Abu Dhabi community.”
