Cross-country skier Emma Ribom, who took her first podium place in the World Cup last season when she finished third in the sprint in Val di Fiemme, has had a sad start to the season.

The 23-year-old has, just like several other national team skiers, contracted a cold.

- We follow the development day by day.

She would have liked to start in the sprint on Friday.

But it is stupid to take a chance and pull on something worse, then you have to rest, said the national team's doctor Jan Wall to SVT Sport yesterday.

And now Ribom himself says that there will be no competitions this weekend.

"Unfortunately, I had to return home when I became ill," writes the Piteå Elite skier on Instagram.

“Suuuperduper sad not to be allowed to start this weekend !!

Now I will do everything I can to get well fast.

Oh, what I long for to compete now ”.

William Poromaa and Björn Sandström also miss the premiere due to illness.

At the moment, Poromaa will not start in the world cup premiere in Ruka 26-28 November.

- The basic plan is to step into Lillehammer, says national team coach Lars Ljung to SVT Sport.

SVT Sport broadcasts the competitions from Gällivare starting at 09.30 on Friday on SVT1.
