Brazilian Dani Alves received a warm reception from Barcelona fans for the second time in his career, and he appeared at the Camp Nou barefoot on Wednesday.

The 38-year-old right-back, who wore a full suit during his presentation, signed a contract until the end of the current season and appeared at the Camp Nou with club president Joan Laporta before speaking to thousands of fans.

Dani Alves said: "I'm more handsome than when I left. Again I'm here. If you remember the last time I held that mic, it means I don't know when my dream will end."

"But I'm here again, and I'm still dreaming. You make me feel special, as one of you. This is something that will never change. Long live Barcelona, long live Catalonia."

Alves played for Barcelona between 2008 and 2016 and won the League title six times, the Champions League three times and the Club World Cup, among other achievements.

The Brazilian will wear the number 8 shirt in his second spell with the Catalan club, and he said he wanted to honor two of the club's legends who wore the same number.

"Everyone should honor the greats while they are alive. So I will wear the number 8 shirt to show my appreciation for Andres Iniesta and Hristo Stoichkov."

Alves, who passed his medical this week, has the option to extend his contract for another season.

He cannot play until next January but will start training with his teammates this week.

Barcelona is ninth in the league with 17 points.
