That Johan Garpenlöv will make his last season as Tre Kronor's national team captain was clear at the end of October.

Who will succeed him is not yet clear.

- My three years as head coach did not turn out as planned, at least not the first two, but it is the same for everyone.

Now all focus is on the season ahead of us, Garpenlöv said then.

"An honorary assignment of course"

A name that has appeared in the discussions about the new national team captain is Växjö coach Sam Hallam.

The 42-year-old has an expiring contract with the SHL club and has not yet made a decision about the future.

- We have talked a lot and know where we stand, but no decisions have been made in any direction.

I can 't say anything at all right now.

We have a dialogue internally and when we are ready to go out with it, we will do it, says Hallam in the CHL period break to SVT about the situation in Växjö.

Hallam says that he has not received the question from the union, but does not close the door for a future in Tre Kronor.

- An honorary assignment of course.

It is perhaps the finest position you can have purely sporting in Swedish ice hockey.

If you get the request, you really have to think twice, says Hallam.

Sam Hallam led Växjö to the Swedish Championship gold this spring, which was the third Swedish Championship gold in seven years for the club.
