A heavy loss for the Norrland team that controlled a large part of the match and created goal chances in all periods.

But Skellefteå were ineffective in the closing stages at the same time as Sparta coolly set their chances.

Skellefteå will now have a difficult return match in the second round of 16 away match against Sparta Prague.

Measure by the minute

It took no more than a minute for Sparta to score their first goal.

It was Filip Chlapik who was in front and steered the puck into a 1-0 lead.

Then it was Skellefteå who controlled the rest of the period, but no equalizer came.

Instead, they went out on a break at a disadvantage - with a shooting statistic of 12 against 5.

In the second period, Skellefteå continued to press, which after only four minutes paid off.

Oscar Möllers equalized to 1-1 through a direct shot.

The Swede put an end to the match

Skellefteå held a continued grip on the match, and a lead goal hung in the air.

Instead, Sparta's Erik Thorell played until 2-1.

The Swede's shot on goal went out to a return that teammate Tomas Pavelka was first on.

The inefficiency in the closing positions continued in the third period for the home team.

Sparta instead increased to 3-1 through Erik Thorell.

A goal that put an end to the match.

The return match was played on 23 November.
