Workers offer their club to work for free.. "He can't pay the water and electricity bills!"

Workers in the Chinese club Hebei offered free work to help the club out of its financial crisis, according to a letter that spread on social media via the Internet.

And China's Xinhua News Agency reported that Hebei Club is close to becoming the second club in the country, in the Premier League, to close its doors this year, after announcing the suspension of its activities last month.

Hebei issued a statement saying that his business will not continue until he finds a new investor.

Jiangsu FC, the Chinese champions last year, suspended its activities in March after the Suning Foundation, which owns the club, announced the suspension of its funding.

Hebei was one of the most spending clubs in China in recent years, and included players such as Argentine duo Ezequiel Lavezzi and Javier Mascherano, and Manuel Pellegrini, the former Manchester City and Real Madrid coach, took charge of his coaching during the 2016-2018 period.

Despite the huge spending, Hebei had limited success on the field and his best result was when he finished fourth in 2017.

The letter was signed by 60 Hebei employees, who said they were willing to work without pay until the restructuring process at the club was completed.

Xinhua quoted the staff as saying in the letter: "Since 2020, Hebei Club has been going through unprecedented circumstances. The club cannot pay water and electricity bills and players' travel expenses to play matches."

He continued, "In order for the club to remain in the top flight, we are all offering unpaid work from today until the restructuring plan is completed and the crisis ends."
