From the stadium to politics.. a Brazilian footballer as Speaker of Parliament

The former football player and best player in the 1994 World Cup with the Brazilian national team, Romario, became the first former athlete to preside over the National Congress of Brazil.

The former player in clubs such as Barcelona and Valencia, who was elected in 2014 a senator from the state of Rio de Janeiro, assumed the interim presidency of the Senate and was forced on Thursday to preside over a joint session of the Senate and the House of Representatives, becoming president of one of the three powers in Brazil for a day.
