American gymnast Simone Biles was one of the biggest stars of the Olympic Games.
But mental illness meant that the 24-year-old was forced to break the team competition and then stand over the finals in all-around, jumping, needles and freestyle.
In NBC's morning program "The today show", the star says that she has mental blockages and is afraid to do some of the steps in gymnastics.
- I make my signature move on the floor, it has never affected me.
But everything else feels difficult.
I see the other girls do it but for me it does not work, says Biles in the interview.
"Still scared"
However, she is positive about the future.
- The turnaround, when I'm back, will come.
But I am still afraid to do many of the steps, she says.
Biles has previously said that she should never have competed in the Olympics.
- If you look at everything I have gone through in the last seven years, I should never have been in another Olympic squad, she said at the end of September.
Over the seven years, Biles is referring to the high-profile scandal involving former national team doctor Larry Nassar, who has been convicted of several sexual assaults.
