William Eklund has had a great start to his NHL career.

The 19-year-old has gained a lot of confidence in San Jose and accounted for four assists in nine games.

But since Eklund has a rookie contract, his first contract year would be activated in another match with the club.

Thus, San Jose was faced with the decision to either let him continue playing in the NHL or loan him back to Djurgården - without him losing one of his contract years.

The choice fell on the latter.

Thus, Eklund returns to Djurgården where he broke through big last season.

The 19-year-old scored 23 points (11 goals and 12 assists) in 40 matches and also made his debut in Tre Kronor.

He was drafted as number seven by San Jose in this summer's NHL draft.

After a heavy autumn, Djurgården has started to find something back.

The Stockholm team has two straight victories but is still second to last in the SHL table with 15 points, three points behind Linköping.
