After Ronald Koeman left the post as coach, Sergi Barjuan took over as an interim solution.

The team has had a tough start to the season and is currently in ninth place in the league game, so now Xavi has been picked as the new head coach.

The 41-year-old thus leaves Al-Sadd in Qatar, a club he has both played for and trained since 2019.

"Al-Sadd has agreed on Xavi's move to Barcelona after the club paid the buyout clause.

"Xavi is an important part of Al-Sadd's history and we wish him all the best," the club wrote in a statement on Twitter.

Player career

Xavi played for Barcelona's A team for 17 seasons.

He is also the player who has represented the club the most times with his 764 matches.

Over the years, there were 85 goals and 24 titles for the midfielder, who left Barcelona in 2015 after winning the triple (League Gold, Cup Gold and Champions League).
