Al-Ahly and Zamalek .. a fierce battle with 8 goals

Al-Ahly won a big 5-3 victory over Zamalek, the Egyptian Premier League title holder, to top the competition with a goal difference from Pyramids today, Friday.

Al-Ahly raised its score to nine points from three matches, while Zamalek remained in fourth place with six points.

Al-Ahly advanced 3-0 in the first 25 minutes when Malian Alio Diang fired a powerful shot that hit the crossbar and then the chest of Zamalek goalkeeper Mohamed Abu Jabal and scored in the 16th minute.

Tunisian Ali Maaloul doubled the score when he got a penalty awarded by referee Mohamed Adel when he was dropped by his compatriot Hamza Mathlouthi, and Maaloul successfully executed the kick in the 20th minute.

Five minutes later, Amr Al-Sulayya sent a cross pass with the heel of his foot to Mohamed Sherif to follow into the goal.

Substitute Mostafa Fathi reduced the score in the 52nd minute with a massive shot from outside the penalty area that landed in the goal of Al-Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy.

But a minute later, Diang fired a huge shot from outside the penalty area as well, to score the fourth goal for Al-Ahly, then Maaloul scored his second personal goal from a penalty kick after a foul by Mathlouthi against Al-Sulayya.

Ahmed Sayed (Zizou) made the score 5-2 for Al-Ahly from a penalty kick in the 81st minute, after Maaloul blocked his compatriot Saif Al-Jaziri, who participated in the second half.

Moroccan Achraf Bencharki reduced the score in the last minute with a shot that hit El-Shennawy's goal.

And in the 63rd minute, Sharif scored the fifth goal for Al-Ahly after following up a shot that rebounded from Abu Jabal, who saved a penalty kick by Maaloul, but the referee repeated the kick so that Maaloul scored his second and fifth personal goal for Al-Ahly.
