• A Nice company specializing in sportech is launching MyCoach TV "where Olympic champions and world champions become your personal coaches".

  • Some of these video tutorials are offered free of charge, others as a package at € 14.99.

The start-up relies above all on its unlimited “premium” subscription at 49 € per year.

  •  MyCoach TV already offers 14 disciplines.

But the goal is to reach fans of 104 different sports.

Learn to roll with Zinédine Zidane, to manage a 100m backstroke with Camille Lacourt or to pass a relay thanks to Muriel Hurtis.

Tutorials from real pros, this is what the new MyCoach TV platform offers, "the first foray into the general public" from the Nice sportech company MyCoach, "where Olympic champions and world champions become your personal coaches".

Just that.

And the boss Cédric Messina does not hide his ambitions: he wants to make his new online toy "the spotify of sports activities".

Concretely, these short videos are offered for some, free of charge, for others in packages at 14.99 €.

But the start-up relies above all on its unlimited “prime” subscription at 49 € per year, the same price as the service… “prime” precisely from Amazon.

Launched on October 21 on the Internet and via smartphone apps, MyCoach TV would already be a success even if the CEO "does not communicate on the figures".

The potential market is, in any case, impressive with 30 million French people practicing a sport, of which 15 are licensed in a federation.

And the French Riviera, which employs 32 people, seized the ball.

“There are sites that offer

 generalist

masterclasses,

but none has previously been specialized in sport,” Cédric Messina suggests.

In sight: the Paris Olympics

He can count on real stars to recruit subscribers: the Nice footballer Hugo Lloris or the fencer Charlotte Lembach. Coaches, such as Fabrice Pellerin (Olympic Nice swimming) or the former coach of the French team Raymond Domenech are also part of the forty big names, from fourteen disciplines, already present on the platform. These super coaches are paid with a guaranteed minimum when they are put online and a percentage thereafter. To launch MyCoach TV, Cédric Messina had to place a large starting bet. “Two million euros have been invested,” he explains to

20 Minutes

. And that's just the beginning.

Ultimately, MyCoach TV could be of interest to fans of 104 different sports.

The number of videos available should therefore increase rapidly.

The boss wants to go fast in order to be on top of the Olympic Games in Paris 2024. “We now have three years for the platform to become a benchmark,” continues the entrepreneur from Nice, whose offices are located at the Allianz Riviera.

At the time of the Olympics, everyone will be looking towards France and we can then tackle the international scene ”.

What to hope to further grow MyCoach TV, created just ten years ago and which never ceases to seduce.

The start-up has already succeeded in three major fundraisers: € 600,000 in 2013;

2.6 million in 2016 and 6.6 million in 2019. “We generate turnover but we are also perpetually in investment,” concludes Cédric Messina.
