With 18 seconds left of the first period, Max Friberg and Markus Lauridsen ended up in a tangled situation in one corner.

Markus Lauridsen felt that he hit Friberg with one of his skate rails and the Frölunda forward started to bleed heavily.

The two Malmö players Markus and Oliver Lauridsen, quickly helped Friberg off the ice - which left a long blood trail behind.

- I heard him scream and I immediately felt that we needed to act, says Oliver Lauridsen to Expressen.

"Damn scary"

- It was damn scary.

It's about a colleague and a human being.

I largely forgot that a hockey match was played and was taken by it, says Markus Lauridsen.

The first period was interrupted but the match could later continue.

However, the players were quickly told that the bleeding had stopped and that the situation was stable with Friberg.

Frölunda's coach Roger Rönnberg announced after the match that Friberg had to go to hospital first.

- It has gone well, he is in hospital and as I have heard it, they have stopped the bleeding and started working on sewing some thigh muscle together, he says.

Rönnberg praises

He also took the opportunity to praise the Malmö players' actions.

- This is how we want it in hockey.

We fight so it smokes on the ice, compete against each other but we need to be human too.

I was very happy to see Oliver (Lauridsen) and also Söderberg (Carl) who were a bit cut afterwards and were curious about how things have gone with Max, says Rönnberg.
