Paralympic winner Elena Krawzow draws hope after her difficult brain operation.

“I woke up again and I am very, very well.

I don't have any neurological deficits.

Thank God.

I feel really good

Don't worry, everything is fine with me, ”said the 28-year-old in a video on Instagram on Thursday.

“I feel better and happier than ever.

That makes me very satisfied. "

Krawzow was operated on for a good four hours on Wednesday morning in the Berlin Charité and was able to be transferred from intensive care to a normal ward in the evening, as her manager Holger Drost confirmed to the German press agency on Thursday. She was really euphoric and positive, said Drost. Just two hours after the procedure, she spoke on the phone with her husband and trainer Philipp Semechin, whom she only married on Monday.

The visually impaired athlete, who won gold over 100 breasts in Tokyo, was diagnosed with a benign but diffuse tumor.

According to Drost, the doctors are very satisfied with the result of the operation.

The cherry stone-sized tumor is said to have been as good as removed.

"My genius doctor Peter Vajkoczy thinks he was able to remove everything," wrote Krawzow on Instagram.

On Thursday, an MRI should bring more detailed information, and tissue examinations will also be made.

Depending on this, a decision is then made as to whether radiation and chemotherapy are necessary.

In the worst case, the tumor can come back and also mutate.

At first, however, Kravtsov's greatest fears do not seem to have been confirmed.

The swimmer was very afraid that she would no longer be herself after the operation.

Because where the tumor is located, there are also areas that define a person's personality.

"I'm afraid that I'll be someone else after the operation," she told the dpa.

Depending on the healing process, the native Kazakh, who only learned to swim at the age of 13, wants to quickly return to training.

Her big goal is to fight for the title at the World Cup next year.
