The National Speed Skating Stadium adopts a hyperboloid saddle-shaped single-layer cable net structure roof design, which is currently the world's largest single-layer two-way orthogonal saddle-shaped cable net roof stadium.
According to Zheng Fang, the chief design officer of the National Speed Skating Pavilion, this design can greatly save materials, and the amount of steel used is only a quarter of the traditional roof.

In order to achieve a more compact volume, there is a curved roof, then the shape of the curved roof is just the most effective shape of our steel cable structure, so we choose a single-layer two-way orthogonal cable net structure, such a Very light structure to save the amount of steel structure. The steel cables used in the actual construction of the "Ice Ribbon" are about 27 kg per square meter on the roof.
[Explanation] In order to create a light and elegant "ribbon" effect, the facade of the National Speed Skating Stadium is assembled by 3360 curved glass units.
The design of this "ice ribbon" curved glass curtain wall is inspired by the combination of ice and snow movement and speed.
The circling "ice ribbon" symbolizes the trajectory left by the skates when speed skaters skating in at high speed; 22 "ice ribbons" represent the hosting of the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022.

During the Winter Olympics, the (venue) can provide a sun-filled audience lounge. We have a "refrigerator" inside the ice rink, and then there is a transparent, warm and sunny hall surrounding this "refrigerator". A very good experience, forming a particularly good contrast between inside and outside.
Of course, the "Ice Ribbon" currently concentrates on our curved glass, 22 "ribbon" glass tubes, curved with a small radius, which integrates the highest level of curtain wall and glass craftsmanship we currently use in the building.
[Explanation] The National Speed Skating Stadium adopts an all-ice design, with an ice surface area of about 12,000 square meters, which is currently the largest ice surface in Asia.
Zheng Fang said that the reason why the National Speed Skating Stadium adopts an all-ice design is to consider post-match use and provide hardware support for mass fitness that meets multiple needs.

Such a venue is also the first time in the world that it can be completely covered with ice. It can be divided into 5 different units, including the boulevard speed skating track for our Winter Olympic Games, the internal training track, and the middle The two standard ice rink units, there is also a connection unit.
