Tottenham negotiating with Conte after Santo sacking

English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur has started talks with Italian coach Antonio Conte, a news report said on Monday, hours after it was announced that Nuno Espirito Santo had been sacked as coach.

Espirito Santo's career with Tottenham ended just four months after his appointment, as Tottenham announced this morning that he and members of his assistant staff had been exempted from coaching the team.

And the British news agency "PA Media" reported that Tottenham had started talks with Antonio Conte, knowing that the club had negotiated Conte months ago before appointing Nuno Espirito Santo as coach of the team to succeed Jose Mourinho.

If an agreement is reached, Conte will return to work in the Premier League, more than three years after his departure from Chelsea.

Conte coached Chelsea for two years, which saw the team crown the league title in the 2016/2017 season and the FA Cup the following season.

Conte left Inter Milan during the summer after leading the team to win the Italian league title in the 2020/21 season.

The dismissal of Espirito Santo came after Tottenham's 3-0 defeat at home to Manchester United yesterday, Saturday, in the tenth stage of the Premier League, which is the team's fifth defeat in its last seven matches in the competition.
