An autumn full of problems with the airways and diseases gave her the worst possible start and the 31-year-old got a roller coaster for the season.

Apart from the World Cup, Maiken Caspersen Falla did not seem to get it right and she states that it felt heavy for almost the entire season.

- When you have to count up after the season, you sit there and remember what was bad as well.

And sat a bit with the feeling if it was worth it anymore, says Caspersen Falla to NRK.

"At the expense of something"

When spring came, it was time for the experienced national team skier to make a decision for the future.

- When you have been part of the national team for 10 or 11 years and then suddenly the body starts to function poorly ... You appreciate other things in life than skiing.

And when you can not do it because you are so tired of skiing, it is at the expense of something, she says.

But the joy of the sport and the positive feeling when everything works out made her make the decision to continue for another season.

- But I said in any case that we must come up with a smart plan because I do not want to end up where I was last autumn, says Caspersen Falla.

New training plan

Together with her coaches, she has developed a plan for the season and especially the Olympics.

It means that she will drive fewer, but much harder sessions.

Her coach Ole Morten Iversen believes that Caspersen Falla can succeed well in several sprint races this winter.

- But the downside is that she feels that she is not really on the cutting edge.

The shape is not like a few years ago.

The training work she has done is good enough to go many good sprint races before the winter.

But not the start of the season, she needs some competitions, says Iversen.

Aim for the Olympics

Caspersen Falla is now focusing on getting started the first four weekends of the season.

In this way, she gets a chance to get in shape and above all a chance to qualify for the Olympics.

Something she hopes for, but does not take for granted.

- There are many who just think that it is just to go and get those places, but it is a struggle, there are many girls in the team here who finish their jobs every day, every hour to be taken out in that team, so I do not want to take it for granted, says Caspersen Falla.
