Angelica Bengtsson flagged that it was a bit uncertain what the future would look like after the Olympics and canceled many of the competitions.

Alhaji Jeng's spontaneous thought was that she would try to figure out which training environment and which coach she would continue to work with.

- But that she would stop still came as a small shock in fact.

It is of course very boring, says Jeng.

The absolute foremost

Angelica Bengtsson already started in her junior year to line up merits.

She has won several senior medals and been part of the world elite.

- She was probably the first to break through internationally among Swedish female pole vaulter shoes.

She is, and has for a long time been, our absolute foremost pole vaulter of all time in Sweden.

Despite a fine career, the expert believes that her body has more to give and that she possesses a higher capacity than she has gained.

- She definitely has many years left in her body and so much more to give.

But it requires an extreme effort to reach the potential, which requires that you are prepared to do so.

- I understand that there is much else in life that is more important than sports.

And it's about finding a balance between harmony and the right kind of tension.

It is about respecting her decision, says Jeng.

Leaves a void

Angelica Bengtsson will leave a void behind.

Jeng describes how Bengtsson, together with Michaela Meijer, have been potagonists in female pole vault in Sweden.

- Michaela can carry the flag on.

But it is clear that there will be a huge void when Angelica disappears from the pole vault scene.

A girl who really has that potential - and anything can happen when she takes the job.

I will definitely miss her in the competition arenas.
