Solskjaer enjoys criticism at Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said on Monday he enjoyed the criticism and was not alarmed by the harsh comments that followed some of his club's recent performances in the Premier League.

Solskjaer came under fire after a faltering start to the season, but he relieved some of that pressure with a 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

"Criticism can make you doubt yourself or stand your ground and take things back. Always enjoy criticism," the Norwegian coach said ahead of United's trip to Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday.

"Journalists, critics and experts have different jobs, but their job is to express their opinion and I am not here to fight with them."

The Norwegian coach insisted that his team has not yet overcome its problems, despite its important victory at Tottenham, and believes that Atlanta will represent a difficult challenge.

"Atlanta has a special style of play and a strong attack and coach Gian Piero Gasperini uses the energy of his players well. It is a team that is exciting to watch playing and we have followed them for a while. What they have done in the last five years has been fantastic."

United had to come back from two goals down to beat Atlanta 3-2 at Old Trafford last month.

"Atlanta is a team that has a unique style of play and still believes in their abilities. They always try to do small things to win any game," Solskjaer added.

United go to Italy and are at the top of Group F with six points from three matches, two points ahead of second-placed Villarreal, while Atlanta is third with the same balance, and finally Young Boys with three points.
