The Barcelona striker was taken to hospital with heart problems

Barcelona confirmed on Saturday evening that its Argentine striker Sergio Aguero was transferred to the hospital after being substituted early during the match against Deportivo Alaves, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Aguero, the Argentine national team striker, scored his first appearance in the Barcelona shirt in the Spanish Football League, as he started the match against Alaves at the Camp Nou stadium, but he was replaced by Brazilian Philippe Coutinho after just 41 minutes.

Aguero fell on the field after feeling chest pain, and the medical staff intervened to treat him, before leaving the field on his feet.

Barcelona indicated that the former Manchester City striker felt pain in his chest and was taken to hospital in order to undergo medical examinations on the heart.

Barcelona also lost the efforts of its defender, Gerard Pique, after suffering a muscle strain in his right calf.

"Aguero told me he felt a little dizzy," Barcelona interim coach Serge Barjuan told Marca.

"Now I know he has been taken to hospital, I can't say more," he added.
