The Latvian Riga team won the Abu Dhabi World Basketball Masters 3x3 Championship, which concluded its competition the day before yesterday, in the Breakwaters area on the Abu Dhabi Corniche, and was organized by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, in cooperation with the International Basketball Federation, over two days, with the participation of 14 teams representing the world’s elite teams in Tri-basketball, which featured the stars of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The coronation ceremony was attended by the member of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Chairman of the Department of Economic Development, Mohammed Al Hammadi, and the Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Aref Al Awani.

The Abu Dhabi World Masters 3x3 Basketball Championship, which returned to the UAE capital after five years, came as part of the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the World Tour of the International Federation of the game.
The tournament, which was held on the stadium built specifically in the breakwater area of Abu Dhabi Corniche, witnessed 22 matches between the 14 participating teams, during which they scored about 600 points, with the support of fans of different nationalities.
For his part, Aref Al-Awani congratulated the Riga team for winning the championship, and stressed that the final match witnessed a classy performance, and great competition from the two teams, amid the encouragement of the fans who inflamed the players' enthusiasm.
Al-Awani praised the impressive level of the participating teams in the world championship, which was confirmed by the keenness of the best teams in the world to be present in the huge event, which is one of the largest international events in the field of tri-basketball.
