Barcelona striker Sergio Aguero was taken to hospital after developing chest pains and complaining of feeling dizzy, during his side's 1-1 draw with Alaves in La Liga on Saturday.

"Sergio Aguero was suffering from chest pains for most of the first half, he was replaced by Philippe Coutinho during the break, and then he was taken to hospital for heart checks," Barcelona said in a statement.

During the first half, the Argentine striker appeared to point towards the bench for a change.

Moments before the end of the first half, Aguero, 33, fell to the field while clutching his chest, and medical staff rushed to his aid, but he eventually got up and left the field without help.
