The memories of the greatest match in the career of so many Eintracht players are still fresh.

In the DFB Cup final, the Frankfurt women were only knocked out against top favorite VfL Wolfsburg with a late goal in extra time. Women's football made in Frankfurt had reported back with a strong performance on the big stage - on the way to the Cologne final, favored by a lot of luck.

This did not happen this season.

Already in the round of 16 the SGE is facing the "maximum challenge", as sporting director Siegfried Dietrich says: an away game against Bayern Munich.

The Hessians should not bet on a collective system failure as with the Munich men in the cup in Mönchengladbach with their opponents this Saturday (1.30 p.m., live on hr television).

Because in the Bundesliga, Eintracht, who won 3; 2 goals, had recently brought Bayern their first defeat of the season in a furious match.

So the champions and current Bundesliga leaders still have an open account with the cheeky Frankfurt women.

"Make it as difficult as possible"

"The league game helps us in that we have gained self-confidence and know that we can win against such a strong opponent on a good day," says SGE coach Niko Arnautis. “Right now we're going to be brave, believe in ourselves and make it as difficult as possible for Bayern.” There is no question that Eintracht against the exquisitely occupied Bayern squad will need another creamy day for a cup coup.

During the international break, the four Frankfurters Laura Freilang, Merle Frohms, Sophia Kleinherne and Sjoeke Nüsken made common cause with five Bayern players in the German women's national team (two victories in the World Cup qualification against Israel).

Now they want to meet the champions at eye level - as the tied constellation in the league suggests.

"The longer we keep the game open, the more it will work in the heads of the Munich women because they know what can happen," says Arnautis.

FC Bayern Munich has only triumphed once in the DFB Cup: in 2012 in the final against 1. FFC Frankfurt.

It is still open whether the ailing Eintracht players Camilla Küver and Janina Hechler will be able to participate in the desired cup bang in Munich.
