A six-year Allsvenskan stay has ended and it will probably be a while before Östersunds FK plays in the highest league again.

Opinions about the club's rise and fall are many.

I myself return to the question: - How should I relate to what Östersund has achieved in sports?

Potter's law is like no other

I look at the team and the achievements that took Östersund to gold in the Swedish Cup and finals in the Europa League.

I look at how they charmed the football audience with attractive football.

Then I'm impressed.

What coach Graham Potter did with a bunch of talented, inexperienced and to some extent misplaced players is not something I have seen before.

Many teams have tried in the past, with a much larger budget, and failed.

It takes great skill to make a group work so well, both on and off the field.

As a player, being part of a team that plays football Östersund did in the 2017 season happens a few times during a career and that achievement is not about fake invoices and sponsorship money.

Money facilitates and increases the probability of sporting success but is certainly not a guarantee.

Östersund's successes and setbacks over the past 10 years.

Economic doping crucial

But for me it will still be a hypothetical discussion about whether the trip was good or bad.

Self-confidence, players and success in the club were partly bought for money that did not exist.

A form of financial doping in a build-up phase that we have no idea how it affected the final result.

We can never know.

I know from personal experience that reality catches up with a club that has been dragged down with weak finances for a long time.

Coaches and players can stay away from all negative headlines and all energy leaks for a limited time.

Maybe even clench their fists and join together as a group.

Sooner or later it leads to a tired and worn out organization and a watered down squad of players with too low quality.

In this case, partly as a result of the transfer ban ÖFK had for two years.

A new wave of success can be created

If I may wish, I hope that the Östersund trip has led to positive memories for all non-profit heroes around the club and those who are supporters around Östersund.

That they have the strength to continue working and supporting when there will still be dark headlines.

They are worth it after the crisis years.

Most of all, I hope that the legacy of the sportingly successful years has given children and young people a feeling that everything is possible and not overshadowed by what has happened on the side.

That they continue to dream of their own elite career and that maybe one day they will meet Arsenal at the Emirates.

It can in the long run create a new wave of success, but this time in a clean, healthy and balanced way as Östersunds FK hopefully learned from history.

If Östersunds FK avoids bankruptcy, there is a tomorrow with undefeated players, leaders and new matches to play.
