It has been just over four months since Christian Eriksen collapsed with cardiac arrest in Denmark's premiere match in the European Football Championship.

After the illness, the Danish Inter player operated on an ICD - a kind of automatic defibrillator that monitors the heart rhythm.

But this means that Eriksen is not allowed to play in the Italian league.

Now Inter open to let Eriksen leave the club.

"Even if the player's current condition means that he is not allowed to play in Italy, there are other countries where he can continue his competitive career," the club wrote according to Reuters.

In the Netherlands, among other places, where Eriksen played for Ajax, defibrillators are allowed for elite players.

In August, Inter announced that Eriksen was in good shape.

"Eriksen is feeling well and is in excellent physical and mental shape," wrote Inter, and also announced that he is following a rehabilitation program designed by Danish doctors.

Eriksen has not played since the illness in the European Championships and he has not commented on whether he wants to continue his playing career.
