Junichi Kawai, a former Paralympic swimmer who was also the leader of the Tokyo Paralympic Games, will be the leader of the Japanese team of the Beijing Paralympics, which will start in March next year, for the second consecutive tournament.

This was announced by the JPC = Japan Paralympic Committee on the 28th.



Mr. Kawai is 46 years old from Shizuoka prefecture.

In January of last year, I was appointed chairman of the JPC, which is responsible for strengthening athletes for the Tokyo Paralympics, and at this year's Tokyo Paralympics, I was the first former athlete to be the leader of the summer tournament.



Regarding the reason why Mr. Kawai was selected as the leader of the two consecutive summer and winter tournaments, JPC says that he wants to promote the parasports movement by having him experience the winter tournament following the Tokyo Paralympics. ..



The Beijing Paralympics will start on March 4th next year and will be held for 10 days.
