Wout Weghorst is also missing on Saturday when VfL Wolfsburg takes on Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.

It will be the first game for the German club since the dismissal of trainer Mark van Bommel.

Weghorst tested positive for the corona virus last week and therefore missed the duel with Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League and the competition match against SC Freiburg.

Both matches were lost, after which the club fired Van Bommel on Sunday.

Van Bommel's successor Florian Kohfeldt confirmed that Weghorst, who previously expressed his doubts about the usefulness of vaccination, is still missing on Saturday.

"But there is a good chance that Wout will be back against Salzburg on Tuesday," said the new trainer.

Wolfsburg has already gone eight games without a win and has dropped to ninth place in the Bundesliga.

Kohfeldt nevertheless says that he has received a good impression of his selection.

"You don't have to worry about the mentality about the team," he said at his official presentation on Thursday.

"I have encountered a squad that I think is intact and just needs a certain orientation about the style of play."

The game between Leverkusen and Wolfsburg starts on Saturday at 3.30 pm.
