Bayern president: We will never join the European Super League

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer confirmed that his club is not interested in joining the European Super League because the championship scheme was not viable.

Hainer said in an interview with "Sponsors" magazine today that he does not believe that this tournament will come to light in the future.

Twelve clubs from England, Italy and Spain announced the establishment of the separate European Super League last April, but nine clubs, including six English clubs, announced their withdrawal from the tournament a few days later, after angry reactions from leagues, federations, other clubs, fans and politicians.

Bayern, which won the European Champions League title several times before, did not join the list of founding teams for the tournament, and Hainer said that Bayern seemed to be among the clubs welcomed to join the tournament, but this matter was not an option for his team.

"It was clear to us, the European Super League cannot happen in Europe in this way, so we quickly said that we will not join and we will not be part of this."

"I think the nature of football was misunderstood and the power of the fans underestimated, before it exploded in three days," he continued.

"It was absolutely right that what we cherish and love about football was not lost," Hainer said, questioning the ability of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus to bring the tournament to light.

He explained, "The effects were very difficult, and I also think that the problems of the clubs that wanted to establish the Super League, should be solved in a different way."

The Bayern president concluded by saying, "We have to get to the root of the problem. Your spending cannot be greater than your revenue. This requires regulating players' salaries, the value of deals and agent commissions."
