Barcelona announced - today, Wednesday - that striker Ansu Fati will miss the team’s match today, against its host, Rayo Vallecano, in the 11th stage of the Spanish League, due to a knee injury.

The Spanish international, who signed a long-term contract with Barcelona a few days ago, was substituted 16 minutes before the end of the Clasico match against Real Madrid last Sunday due to an injury.

And Barca coach Ronald Koeman said - in the press conference before the Rayo Vallecano match - that doubts are surrounding Fati's participation.

Fati did not appear in the list of players heading to Madrid to play the match, and Barcelona confirmed that he would not participate today.

"Ansu Fati suffers from pain in his right knee. He is not ready to participate, and his return depends on the speed of his recovery," Barcelona said in a statement on its website.

After an absence of 10 months due to a knee injury, Fati returned to participation from the match that ended with Barcelona's victory over Levante on the 26th of last month.

Fati scored in that match and scored 5 other participations in all competitions this season, but he scored another single goal that came against Valencia 10 days ago.

Fati scored a total of 15 goals in 49 matches with Barcelona in all competitions since his first appearance with the team 26 months ago, a score that only Luis Suarez (21 goals), Antoine Griezmann (35 goals) and Messi (69 goals), knowing that none of The three players are no longer in the Catalan team.

Because of the injury, Koeman misses the services of Ousmane Dembele, Martin Braithwaite, Pedri, Frenkie de Jong and Ronald Araujo.

Fati reminded Barcelona fans of Frenchman Dembele, who stayed in the Catalan team's medical clinic more than he wore the Barca shirt, which he joined in 2017.
