Italian Lamont Jacobs, the fastest man in the world and the winner of the 100 meters gold in the "Tokyo Olympics", chose the Dubai Club for People of Determination for his training, during his visit to Dubai, in preparation for the upcoming events.

The Chairman of the Asian Paralympic Committee and the Executive Director of the Dubai Club for People of Determination, Majed Al-Osaimi, met with the Olympic champion, after the training session he conducted in the club's track, under the supervision of his coach, Paulo Camusi, and lasted for three hours.

The Dubai Club for People of Determination said in a statement yesterday: "Lamont briefed Marcel Jacobs on the achievements of the Dubai Club for People of Determination, its activities, and the various initiatives it has undertaken by watching the documentary film, which embodied the club's successes in all fields."

He added, "The selection of the Italian Olympic champion for the club's track confirms the position of the Dubai Club for the International People of Determination, by organizing major international sporting events and events, especially the mother of games."

He continued, "Al-Osaimi briefed the Olympic champion on the club's most prominent sports achievements," noting that the club presented champions who achieved Paralympic medals during the past 20 years, led by the hero Muhammad Khamis, the first gold medalist for the UAE in the history of its Paralympic participation (Athens 2004), and the winner of Three Paralympic medals, gold in Athens 2004, Rio 2016 and silver in Beijing 2008.

The statement continued: "The Olympic champion expressed his admiration for the sports facilities in the club, especially the track, in addition to the activities and programs offered to the people of determination, stressing that the club's track will be his permanent station, during his visits to the UAE, on the grounds that the club and the track have their global reputation."

He concluded: "Lamont indicated that the capabilities available in the club confirm the UAE leadership's interest in the people of determination, and their full empowerment in society. At the end of the meeting, Lamont thanked the management of the Dubai Club for People of Determination, for providing him with the opportunity to train in the track, wishing success to the club's champions in various games in order to realize their ambitions at all levels.
