The DGT has planned to collect a total of
605 million euros in fees
in 2022
, 5.34% more than a year ago, and
366 million euros in fines
, 3% more.
The total revenue forecast by Traffic in these concepts amounts to 971 million euros.
The general director of Traffic, Pere Navarro,
described both increases as "prudent"
and justified during his appearance in the Interior Commission of the Congress of Deputies, this Tuesday, to explain what the Budget bill provides to the General Directorate of Traffic for next year.
The increase foreseen in fines is reasoned in that
"since 2015 the same budget was always budgeted and at the end of each fiscal year between 6 and 7% more was entered, so it is not that we are going to fine more, but what This increase is intended to reflect reality "
, in the words of Navarro.
The rates also grow and with more force next
year, when calculating the Government "a greater economic activity". This impulse will, in the opinion of the Traffic Director,
"multiply the procedures carried out in the DGT
: vehicle registrations, transfers, driving licenses, scrap ... Therefore, it is a growth in line with what we foresee that the economy will grow in 2022 ".
Regarding the planned expenditure,
Navarro detailed that the Central Traffic Headquarters will have a 4.49% more budget, up to 974 million, of which 838 million euros will be allocated to Road Safety, 3.4% more
than in the previous DGT budgets.
The items from management centers, complaints, radars, breathalyzer controls and cameras, as well as aid to victims' associations for road safety projects are frozen in the budget.
The first remains at 196 million ("but last year they rose 17%," explained Navarro) and the second at 550,000 euros.
Human Resources
According to the Director General of Traffic, who was supported in their interventions by the Government partners, PSOE and United We Can, these budgets "are
a decided commitment to Human Resources, digitization and efficiency in management
, in the sense of facilitating the Budget Execution".
The
lack of examiners
who have collapsed the centers to obtain a driving license was one of the first criticisms of the opposition, specifically Francisco José Alcaraz (VOX), who echoed the criticisms of the sector.
But
Pere Navarro insisted on something that he had already said recently: "It is good news, we have more supply than demand
.
"
The representative of the PP, Óscar Gamazo, criticized the government's tax drive, both in fines and in the Registration Tax and pointed out that
"the DGT has become the government's ATM."
The effort to collect, Gamazo said, is also seen in the intention to collect tolls on the highways, to which Navarro replied that they should be
"careful to break everything to get to power, because if they arrive they will need everything that they have broken in the way "
.
The Traffic Director said that the issue of tolls exceeds the powers of the DGT.
