A large part of the players would no longer have faith in the Norwegian.

The pressure on Solskjaer has increased after Sunday's painful 0-5 defeat against Liverpool at Old Trafford.

United have never lost so hard against the rival.

According to various media, the board of the English top club is currently considering the position of 48-year-old Solskjaer, who still has a contract until the summer of 2024 at the club where he celebrated great success as a player.

The former attacker took office as interim manager in December 2018 following the resignation of Jose Mourinho and was appointed permanent in March 2019.

Last summer he signed for two more seasons.

Foreign media are already speculating about Solskjaer's successor.

For example, the Italian press writes that United has already made contact with the clubless Antonio Conte.

United strengthened considerably this season

With 25 points from his first nine games as United manager, Solskjaer started strong at the end of 2018, but the club is still waiting for his first trophy under the Norwegian.

The twenty-time national champion has finished sixth, third and second in recent years.

Last season, Solskjaer guided United to the final of the Europa League, in which Villarreal was too strong after penalties.

This season, the English club is disappointingly seventh.

United had just invested to compete for the championship.

Players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphaël Varane were brought to Old Trafford.

Solskjaer was a United player from 1996 to 2007.

He scored the winning goal in 1999 in the historic Champions League final against Bayern Munich.
