• In particular represented by Mickaël Landreau, the Nantes Collective is preparing a plan to take over FC Nantes.

  • A crowdfunding will be launched with supporters and lovers of FC Nantes.

A call for contributions reminiscent of that of Nantes, which launched a popular shareholder base, for its part.

  • For now, Waldemar Kita has not announced that he wants to sell the club.

If FC Nantes is officially not for sale, the takeover project by the Nantes Collective continues to advance its pawns. Mickaël Landreau was interviewed on France 3 Pays de la Loire, to give news of this plan to take over the club. “Today, we have two solid files with which we are working and which could come with us to buy FC Nantes”, he declared, also explaining that the Nantes Collective was currently examining “two, even three files” of potential investors.

The Nantes Collective, which hopes to raise 20 million euros to embark on the buyout of the FCN, should also set up "a popular crowdfunding, with a participation from 100 €".

Communication effect or real breakthrough?

This announcement seems, in any case, to please Nantes supporters.

"I find that this goes in the process of cementing the momentum of a recovery project that is anchored locally", explains Thierry Tissot, president of Activ Nantes Supports, a group of supporters of the Yellow and Green.

More than a financial participation, the idea is, according to him, to "involve" all those who follow their club of heart.

“Here, the commitment materializes”.

Two for the price of one ?

A commitment that is reminiscent of that proposed by A la Nantes, which had launched a popular shareholder base to weigh on a potential buyout of the club. Through a Simplified Joint Stock Company (SAS), it announced its wish, last summer, to raise 3 million euros from supporters, with a minimum contribution of 100 €, 50 € for job seekers and students. Today, around 500 shareholders have joined A la nantaise.

If the SAS is still far from the 30,000 hoped-for supporters, its project could well be hampered by the popular crowdfunding announced by the Nantes Collective, represented among others by Mickaël Landreau and Philippe Plantive, boss of the company Proginov.

“We expressed our support for the Nantes Collective project.

We have a complementary approach to theirs, ”says Jean-Pierre Clavier, vice-president of A la Nantes.

"The supporters are free"

Is over-solicitation from supporters to be feared?

Jean-Pierre Clavier sees a good thing there, and tries to appeal to the Collective of Nantes.

" We'll see.

The supporters are free.

We have two SAS in the Nantes landscape that have emerged.

It's still quite unique.

This shows the richness of the debate.

At the end of the day, we have to meet again ”.

Both projects are reflected in their long-term vision for FC Nantes, but the arrival of a new call for contributions from fans could confuse the issue.

“Not necessarily”, replies Thierry Tissot.

The supporter explains that they are much to wish to participate financially, "but without necessarily wanting to sit on the Board of directors (CA) of the club".

This is where the Nantes Collective stands out.

Because financial participation does not mean shareholding.

The contributors will have a voice in the chapter by having the possibility of nominating two people to the board.

The launch date of this crowdfunding campaign is not yet known.

One thing is certain: the supporters are ready.
