In the context of overcoming the global crisis represented by the Covid-19 pandemic, and announcing the beginning of the return of life to normal, the Emirates Horse Racing Authority announced the return of the masses to the grandstands of horse racing tracks in the country after an absence that lasted more than a season due to the repercussions imposed by the pandemic, which caused Stopping mass gatherings within the measures to combat the pandemic, while leaving the option at each state track to determine attendance rates in coordination with the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, as well as the relevant committees in each emirate, coinciding with the authority’s announcement to attract national competencies to work in the field of race management.
This came during the meeting, which was chaired by Sheikh Rashid bin Dalmouk Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Racing Authority, in the presence of Board Member and Director of the Authority, Engineer Mohammed Al Shehhi, and a number of officials within the Authority's work team.
Sheikh Rashid bin Dalmouk Al Maktoum expressed his sincere thanks to the team of the Emirates Racing Authority for their efforts to overcome challenges and their continued cooperation with all concerned authorities to make the next season a success.
He said, "The decision to return the masses to the race tracks in the country and reach the stage of sustainable recovery came after exceptional challenges and circumstances that we overcame thanks to the vision of our wise leadership, the commitment and awareness of society, and the concerted efforts of all the concerned sectors," stressing the importance of the fans' commitment to all precautionary measures in order to ensure their safety until it appears. Next season, the appearance that befits the name of the Emirates at the global level.
For his part, Engineer Mohammed Al-Shehhi confirmed that the protocol for the return of the masses to attend the races will be announced during the coming period, calling for continued adherence to precautionary measures and adherence to the instructions issued by the competent official authorities to ensure the safety of everyone and the implementation of the health protocol with great accuracy.
The Director of the Emirates Racing Authority said: "The decision to return the masses comes as a result of the successful policies that the country has followed in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, and after studying the local and global situations related to this aspect, while this proactive approach in dealing with the challenges of the last stage pushed the UAE to be one of the The first countries that transformed the challenges of Covid-19 into opportunities and benefited from all the experiences we went through, so that the country became a global model to follow in this regard.”
Encouraging decisions and initiatives during the meeting
■ Approval of increasing the number of invitations for owners to attend races.
■ Approval of dividing the junior races in case the number is complete to give the opportunity for the largest number of junior horses to participate in coordination with the clubs.
■ Support the owners by reducing the financial fees associated with the income of horses and supporting the main races in Abu Dhabi and Jebel Ali tracks.
■ Create a race secretary job in the authority to coordinate with the tracks to develop an integrated and balanced program that serves the interests of all participants.
■ Form a special committee for trainers to present their opinions, observations and suggestions.
■ Approving the establishment of their own workshops, through which they will be informed of developments related to the new laws, in an effort to create a stimulating and positive environment.
■ Approval of the formation of a technical committee for equal weights, whose task is to consider the trainers' comments and grievances.
■ Strengthening cooperation with brothers in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain in the field of coordinating horse racing programs, exchanging experiences, horse racing laws, and horse movements between countries and veterinary quarantines.
