Jose Mourinho has not shied away from taking responsibility for the biggest defeats in his coaching history, after Roma's shock 6-1 loss to Norwegian champions Bodo Glimt in the European Football Conference League on Thursday.

Eric Botem and Ola Solbakken scored two goals for the home team, which led 2-1 in the first half and dominated the match completely after the break, stunting the Italian team.

Mourinho rested a number of his prominent players, and he might have wished him an easy night in Norway, but he paid the price.

"I decided to play with this squad and that's why I take responsibility. I did it with good intentions to give the hardworking a chance to play and follow the rotation policy," the 58-year-old Portuguese coach told Sky Sports.

"Simply put, we lost against a team that played better than us today," Mourinho added.

Perhaps this defeat was not quite as painful for Mourinho as Real Madrid's humiliating 5-0 loss to Barcelona in 2010, but Roma - who started the European Conference League with two victories - are currently second in their group with 6 points, one point behind Bodou Glimt.

And the network "Opta" specialized in football statistics, stated that for the first time a team coached by Mourinho received 6 or more goals in one match, with the Portuguese coach reaching the 1008th match in his career.
