Lionel Messi has scored 3 goals with Paris Saint-Germain, all in the Champions League, thanks to his colleague Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe, who scored a goal and assisted Messi in a 3-2 win over Leipzig, told Saint-Germain that he wanted to leave before the start of the season and move to Real Madrid one year before the end of his contract next summer.

But the Parisian club decided to keep the French international, and the young player contributed to Messi's success in adapting to his new team.

Mbappe passed the ball to Messi before the Argentine captain scored his first goal during the 2-0 win over Manchester City in the last round.

And yesterday, Tuesday, Mbappe got a penalty and gifted it to Messi to score a 2-1 lead, after he also made the equalizer in the second half for the former Barcelona captain with a pass from inside the penalty area, to compensate for the two goals’s modest appearance before the break.

In the absence of Messi and Neymar, Mbappe took Paris Saint-Germain's previous penalty against Angers in the French league, but the 22-year-old said it was normal for him to step back and ask Messi to take the kick against Leipzig.

Before the end of the match, Saint-Germain received another penalty in added time, and Messi asked Mbappe to implement it.

Mbappe said, "This is normal and this is respect. He is the best player in the world, and it is an advantage that he plays with us, and I have said that constantly before."

He added, "If a penalty kick comes, he will take it and there is no room for any talk. As for the second kick, he asked me to take it."

Mbappe missed the kick in stoppage time, throwing the ball high, which is the only negative thing for the man of yesterday's match, in which he opened the goals of the match at the Princes Park stadium.

Saint-Germain struggled to contain Leipzig at times, but managed to conceded two goals and won, and it seemed that the team was not affected by the absence of the injured Brazilian player Neymar.

"We did not play badly, and I think there are some good things, maybe some not so good, but when you play against strong teams you face some difficulties," Mbappe said.

"It's difficult in the Champions League. Every match is difficult. Playing at home and in front of our fans, we topped the group, and that's what we focus on."

Saint-Germain has 7 points and is one point ahead of Manchester City, after coach Pep Guardiola's team won 5-1 at its Belgian host Club Brugge.
