It was a game against a goal during large parts of the first half and Bruges had a hard time defending themselves.

Visiting Manchester City created several goal chances and in the 30th minute they broke the deadlock.

João Cancelo unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide.

With two minutes left in the first half, Mahrez was sent off in the penalty area and City had the chance to extend the lead from eleven meters.

Which was also done when Mahrez himself managed the punishment in the best way.

Decided the match

The English continued to offer football candy in the second half.

Belgian Kevin De Bruyne played a running Kyle Walker who shot there 3-0 at the far post.

Bruges had nothing to oppose while City gassed on.

In the 65th minute, 19-year-old Cole Palmer was substituted and just two minutes later he scored his first CL goal to make it 4-0.

The goal meant that Palmer became City's third teenager to score in the Champions League after Phil Foden and Kelechi Iheanacho.

However, the away team was not allowed to keep a clean sheet.

With just over ten minutes left, Bruges captain Hans Vanaken reduced to 4-1, his third goal of the season's CL season.

Riyad Mahrez then set the final score at 5-1 with his second goal of the match.

City now have two wins in three games in the group stage.
