The top competitor AIK's 0-1 loss against Hammarby on Sunday gave Djurgården the opportunity to take the lead in the all-Swedish league lead by points against Elfsborg.

That did not happen.

Elfsborg's lead-heavy victory means instead that the Borås team only has two points up to Malmö, Djurgården and AIK who all have 44 points with seven rounds left to play.

Used the counterattacks

It was mainly the counterattacks that did the work for the guests.

With 21 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 1 - 0 lead as Simon Olsson flipped the ball in after a cross from the right.

Just a few minutes later, Olsson missed a golden position when he shot outside from close range.

Djurgården pressed for some in an intense period at the end of the first half.

But there was no goal and instead it was the guests who went to the break in the lead.

- I think we are doing well.

It's fun to play with a large audience.

We may have two, three more goals, says Elfsborg's Simon Strand to Discovery.

Immediately in the second half, Djurgården's Kalle Holmberg burned an equalizer of rank.

Nicklas Bärkroth made a perfect save to an oncoming Holmberg who shot outside from close range.

Extremely close to a draw - instead it got worse for Djurgården.

Two goals by Alm

Hakon Valdimarsson hit a long and fast kick that reached Per Frick.

Frick in turn served Rasmus Alm who thanked by distinctly shooting in. The 26-year-old thanked for it by distinctly shooting in 2-0 in the 50th minute.

Just over a quarter into the second half, Simon Strand had a free kick in goal and thought he had made it 3-0.

But the ball was judged to have touched Per Frick's hand and was thus ruled out.

Elfsborg's free kick goal ruled out

But the third would come with a quarter left to play - and again through a counterattack.

Alexander Bernhardsson stormed forward and passed Alm.

With a fine shot, Alm cheated away Elliot Käck and placed the final result 3-0.
